Zhytomyr – a place of equal possibilities

The meta-project is the popularization of the European Charter as a document for promoting gender equality on a systemic basis at the local level, preparing the foundation before the development and acceptance of the city programs to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men in Zhytomyr.

Results of the initiative:
● Among the local community there is increased information about the main provisions of the European Charter of Women's and Men's Equality.
● Gender-disaggregated statistics for Zhytomyr for 2012–2017 were collected and analyzed. The analytical research “Gender exposure of Zhytomyr: yesterday, today, tomorrow” has been published, which is how the planters and scientific communities are defending themselves.
● The gender warehouse was included in the Statute of the Zhytomyr Municipal Territorial Community.
● A methodical guide to the integration of the gender component into projects, programs and approaches for local self-government has been presented.
● The number of local development programs has been increased to replace the gender component at the level of previous government bodies.
● The concept of the Russian food program was confirmed to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men.
● All government bodies have been recognized as responsible for ensuring the equal rights and opportunities of women and men.
● Motivated by municipal management structures for the sake of comprehensive collection of gender-disaggregated internal statistics.
● The basic principles of the European Charter of Women’s and Men’s Equality in the life of local communities are enshrined in the Concept of the Municipal Targeted Social Program “Zhytomyr - “place of equal possibilities” for 2020–2025,” as confirmed by the deputies of the Zhytomyr City Council in the harsh year of 2019.
