Zhytomyr City TC – Territory of Equal Opportunities
During 2019-2020 the project “Zhytomyr City TC – Territory of Equal Opportunities” was implemented. The project became possible with the financial support of the ICF “Ukrainian Women’s Fund” and in cooperation with Zhytomyr City Council.
Goal: creating prerequisites for the development of Zhytomyr City TC as a territory of equal opportunities for women and men by advocating practical and strategic needs of vulnerable groups of women (for example, mothers of many children) and increasing the capacity of city council employees to include the gender component, measures to improve the situation of vulnerable groups of women in program documents, policies and procedures.
Project results:
A study was conducted among 448 mothers of many children in Zhytomyr and their practical and strategic gender needs were identified.
An information campaign “Parity Values” was conducted among more than 2,000 community residents and representatives of Zhytomyr City Council to increase gender awareness and gender sensitivity. Campaign has tags: #BeEqual_in_Zhytomyr; #Parity_in_Zhytomyr.
Training and consulting was conducted among local government officials appointed to be responsible for ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men.
A memorandum “10 Steps of a Comprehensive Gender Approach to Develop Local Programs” and “Workbook on Integrating a Gender Approach into the Work of Local Government Officials” were prepared and published.
